In Texas, Police Worried About Losing Gun Permit Notification

The Houston Chronicle is reporting that "a small change in concealed handgun laws has created safety concerns among Houston police officers who work the streets." The change is that "the new law removes the penalty for failing to show a police officer a concealed handgun license when stopped by an officer who asks for identification." Before the change, anyone who failed to notify a police officer they had a CHL could lose their license for a year. More

My wife wonders why I have a pretty good "stash" of ammo.

Some for shooting, the rest for trading.

I have a brand new AR15, that I traded way under retail for, cost basis was less than $400 dollars of 9mm ammo and some magazines. The ammo was purchased over time a few years ago when it was dirt cheap.

PMs, Beans, Bullets, and toiletries are the currency of the future.

It has been a long 10 months of shortages in ammo, powder, and especially primers. Last month I was in OKC and stopped by H&H. They actually had small rifle and small pistol primers. I wasn't thrilled with the price but at least they had them. So I bought 1k of each. They didn't have large pistol standard though which was my biggest shortage. Can't do a lot of shooting with the .45's and .44 Specials without them.

So I was in Claremore yesterday and stopped by Bill's. They actually had large pistol primers. I was so surprised that I bought 1k even though they were nearly twice as expensive as a year or two ago. I told them I was thrilled that they had them but I was hoping prices would start to move down. They said they thought they probably would because "we are getting primers almost every day now." So that's encouraging. If Graf's or Midway ever has shipping stock and decent prices, I may pay the hazmat fee and load up on a ten year supply! Not going to do this again!

A bit OT, but I disagree with this
The reason for the decrease in the amount of hunters isn't due to inaction by hunters. Most hunters I know are either GOA or NRA members. The reason for the decrease is the lack of available land to hunt on.
